We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Librarian to join our team at Metro Nashville Public Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and support in the development and implementation of a comprehensive school library program.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain a teaching and learning environment that is engaging, inclusive, and conducive to learning.
- Collaborate with teachers and other educators to establish learning objectives and assessment strategies to develop individual and group inquiry-based learning experiences.
- Empower students and teachers to become critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, and skillful researchers.
- Champion equity, access, and intellectual freedom for users within the physical space and beyond.
- Support learner success by guiding students to read for understanding, breadth, and pleasure.
- Model and champion digital citizenship and safety, adherence to copyright and fair use requirements.
- Teach all members of the learning community to engage with and use information in a global society.
- Develop and support the school's and the district's mission, strategic plan, and policies.
- Manage the staff, budget, and the physical and virtual spaces of the school library.
- Requires education or training equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Library Science. Preferred: Master's in Library Science.
- Previous experience in an educational or related setting is preferred but is not required.
- Training and certification as a media specialist is required.
- Valid Tennessee teaching license, with Library Information Specialist preK endorsement, preferred.
The Librarian will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interactions with students, teachers, and other educators. The position requires light work involving standing or walking some of the time, exerting up to 20 pounds of force on a regular basis, and moderate dexterity in operating machinery, tools, or office equipment.
