Construction Materials Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Construction Materials Engineer to join our team in Greensboro, North Carolina. As a key member of our construction materials team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of construction projects by assessing and verifying the properties and quality of materials used in construction.
Working under the supervision of a Licensed Engineer, you will coordinate field explorations, field logging of soil samples, performing engineering calculations/design, preparation of proposals and reports, and project and client support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct testing and observe special inspections of construction materials including soil, concrete, asphalt, and other relevant materials, to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Reviewing construction plans and specifications to ensure alignment with project objectives before field observations.
- Documenting and managing field activities, including recording detailed observations and testing results during project execution.
- Assist in drafting reports and proposals for small projects, ensuring thoroughness and accuracy in assessments and documentation.
- Maintaining daily communication with management, contractors, and clients to ensure project transparency and provide regular progress updates.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, Construction, or a closely related field.
- EIT or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
- Basic working knowledge of construction plans and specifications.
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn commercial software applications.
- Willingness to obtain International Code Council (ICC), American Concrete Institute (ACI), and/or Department of Transportation (DOT) certifications in the fields of aggregate, asphalt, soil, reinforced concrete, and masonry.
