Nursing Professional Development Specialist: Acute Care

Job Summary:
The Nursing Professional Development Practitioner will play a key role in advancing the practice of staff at Akron Children's Hospital. This position will contribute to the professional development of others, support collaborative relationships, and promote life-long learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advance the profession by contributing to the professional development of others, supporting collaborative relationships, and promoting life-long learning.
- Use the educational design process to bridge knowledge, skills, and practice gaps identified through needs assessment.
- Influence inter-professional practice and learning environments, the NPD specialty, and the profession of nursing and healthcare through collaboration with leadership in planning and decision making to achieve desired results.
- Actively work to transform processes at all levels through inspiration, initiation, adoption, and sustainment of and adaptation to change using project management and improvement processes.
- Promote the generation and dissemination of new knowledge and the use of evidence to advance NPD practice, guide clinical practice, and improve patient care.
- Actively support, promote, and demonstrate nursing professional development as a nursing practice specialty through promotion of research, EBP, and QI.
- Support the transitions of nurses and other healthcare team members across learning and practice environments, roles, and professional stages.
- Other duties as required.
Requirements:
- Experience in project management with interdisciplinary teams is required.
- Experience in data analysis and presentations is required.
- Experience working with all levels within an organization is required.
- Experience in healthcare is preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office or similar software is required.
Education and Experience:
- Education: Master's degree in Nursing or BSN and in process of attaining Master's degree in Nursing within three years. Completion of Nurse Education track of MSN program is preferred.
- Certification: Registered Nurse licensure is required; BLS certification is required; PALS certification may be required by area of service. Nursing Professional Development certification preferred.
- Years of relevant experience: 5 to 7 years is preferred.
- Years of experience supervising: None.
