Position Overview

Role Summary

The Patient Care Technician plays a crucial role in assisting the Registered Nurse in delivering exceptional care to patients, ensuring their needs are met with safety and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to patient call signals and inquiries to assess their needs effectively.
  • Assist in repositioning patients who are unable to move independently.
  • Provide physical assistance to help patients with daily activities, including mobility, hygiene, and exercise.
  • Monitor and adhere to patients' dietary restrictions and preferences to ensure proper nutrition.
  • Record and report food and liquid intake, as well as urinary and fecal output, to the healthcare team.
  • Measure and document vital signs as instructed by nursing staff.
  • Gather and relay information regarding patient conditions and treatment plans from caregivers and medical personnel.
  • Observe patients for any symptoms that may require medical intervention, such as changes in vital signs or signs of distress.
  • Document patient behavior and report any concerns to nursing staff.
  • Remind patients to adhere to their medication schedules.
  • Uphold the mission and values of the healthcare facility.
  • Engage actively in patient rounding to enhance care delivery.

Qualifications

A. Educational Background

  • High school diploma or GED is preferred.

B. Experience and Certifications

  • Minimum of six months of relevant experience in a healthcare setting within the last three years.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • Completion of Workplace Violence Prevention training within the specified timeframe is mandatory.
  • California State Nurse Assistant certification is preferred.
  • Familiarity with human anatomy, medical terminology, and rehabilitation principles is advantageous.
