Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform daily start-up and shut-down procedures for plant machinery.
  • Operate and maintain boilers and boiler room equipment, performing water and boiler tests as needed.
  • Install, repair, and perform preventive maintenance inspections and services on industrial processing equipment, water levels, water systems, and other equipment and systems.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test, and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Clean and maintain machines and machine parts, removing parts and reinstalling as necessary.
  • Oil and lubricate moving parts on machines to ensure effective performance.
  • Record and report damaged, worn, or broken parts.
  • Order and install replacement parts for machines.
  • Identify the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines.
  • Repair broken machines quickly and efficiently.
  • Prepare reports documenting work performed.
  • Clean, organize, inventory, stock, and maintain shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
  • Coordinate with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines.
  • Respond to daily maintenance requests in a timely fashion to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Collaborate with product managers or plant engineers regarding new products being added and modifications that will be required.
  • Makes necessary modifications and implements test runs; confers with product managers regarding test results and makes additional alterations to machinery as required.
  • Program PLCs.
  • Maintain and repair trucks as needed.
  • Perform lockout/tagout and other safety procedures.
  • Maintain chemical room.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Work in all areas of maintenance as needed, including janitorial.
  • Meet established productivity standards.
  • Ensure work is performed safely and efficiently.
  • Utilize CMMS system to log all work and perform preventative maintenance.
  • Have a good understanding of computer-based programming (PLC).
  • Be able to work individually or assist other team members in troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Must be able to operate scissors lift, boom lift, and forklift safely.
  • Strictly adhere to all safety rules, policies, and procedures required by Axelon, law, and what is recognized as common practice in the industry.
  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing technical publications. Remain current on equipment and repair procedures and best practices.
  • Study blueprints and manufacturers manuals to determine correct operation of machinery.
  • Proficient in reading electrical schematics.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of maintenance performed.
  • Be able to work well with a diverse workforce.
  • Be able to follow directions given by their team lead and/or supervisor.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Possess and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Keep the work area and the company premises safe, clean, and organized.
  • Be able to work past the schedule as production issues may arise, or work additional shifts as needed (weekends, evenings, emergency call-ins).
  • May work with and support other branch personnel as required by supervision.
  • Drive and pick up parts, transport equipment, parts, etc.
  • Comply with all Federal, State, and local laws.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Some locations may require relevant certifications, a boiler license, or PLC programming.
  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license and driving record free of chargeable accidents, speeding, or other safety violations.
  • Minimum of two years maintenance engineering experience with specific knowledge of machinery, electricity, electronics, plumbing, hydraulics, pneumatics, welder, and boiler applications.
  • Proficient in the proper use of power and hand tools.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting ability of 3-phase 230-volt systems.
  • PLC programming experience.
  • Experience in carpentry, boiler repair, welding, and general facility repairs.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English, ability to comprehend and follow direction, perform basic math, good time management.
  • Must be a team player with enthusiasm, initiative, and pride in work well done; self-starter dedicated to continual quality improvement.
  • Proficient in reading electrical schematics.
  • Standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, kneeling, working in confined areas, reaching overhead, driving a forklift, grasping, moving equipment, pushing, pulling, moving loaded carts weighing up to 500 lbs, lifting and carrying up to 100 lbs, reading, writing, speaking, hearing.
  • Inside and outside areas of a typical industrial laundry facility, which includes working with and around large machinery, variations in temperature, noise, odors, humidity, lint, and dust, in general offices or on outside grounds.
  • Travel: Occasionally, such as to procure parts.
