About the Job

This role is responsible for performing defined responsibilities and tasks related to maintaining the operations of assigned mechanical systems. The successful candidate will perform established preventative maintenance, troubleshoot operational issues, install systems, and inspect systems to ensure optimal performance and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform skilled work in assigned department operations and maintenance, including inspecting, installing, and troubleshooting plumbing and/or related systems.
  • Work with sprinkler, distilled water, air, gas, and vacuum systems.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot assigned systems, process and respond to work orders to ensure progress, safety, and/or compliance with operational policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and repair assigned equipment as needed, perform ongoing maintenance checks to determine need and ensure operational safety.
  • Maintain a variety of operational records, logs, and reports.
  • Operate hand and power tools associated with the plumbing trade.
  • Install, clean, and repair water and waste lines to a wide variety of equipment.
  • Install, repair, and periodically test valves, sump pumps, water circulators, and backflow preventors.
  • Install, clean, and repair underground water and sewage piping.
  • Install and repair piping for gas, air, vacuum, and sprinkler systems; fabricate ductwork and plumbing parts.
  • Requisition supplies and materials from stockroom; and order from vendor.
  • Read blueprints and piping diagrams.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a high school diploma or equivalent, journeyman certification, and 3 years of related experience. A valid Maine driver's license, customer service principles, and specialized equipment and system maintenance and repair skills are also required.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and the general public.
