Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced professional to lead our infection control efforts, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards. Your expertise will be instrumental in implementing effective prevention strategies, surveillance, and documentation to minimize transmission risks. You will educate employees on policies and procedures related to infection control and employee health, fostering a healthy work environment.
Responsibilities
This dynamic role encompasses a range of responsibilities, including:
- Developing and enforcing infection control policies and procedures, identifying gaps, and outdated information.
- Maintaining current knowledge of infection control practices, adhering to CDC, CMS, The Joint Commission, county, state, APIC regulations, standards, or guidelines.
- Participating in infection control activities within the organization, including facility surveillance and clinic oversight.
- Collaborating with HR to ensure completion of health screenings for new employees, verifying immunization status and testing requirements.
- Tracking occupational health trends, assisting in developing employee health programs targeting identified trends to enhance staff well-being.
- Maintaining accurate documentation of immunizations and employee health records.
- Providing new employee orientation on infection control principles and practices, as well as annual training for staff.
- Preparing reports on infection control activities and participating in the Environment of Care Committee.
- Daily multidisciplinary inpatient rounds to identify hospital-acquired infections and potential epidemic risks.
- Notifying reportable diseases to tribal, county, state, and federal departments, supporting administration with infection control reports, and maintaining complete records.
Requirements
To excel in this position, you must possess the following qualifications:
- Active, unencumbered state license.
- BLS certification (AHA only), CIC preferred but not required.
- COVID-19 vaccination.
- Experience in infection control/employee health.
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.
