Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Nurse Anesthetist to join our team at Jackson West, working on a per diem/flexible shift basis. As a CRNA, you will administer anesthesia under medical direction for diversified surgical cases, utilizing inhalation, intravenous, spinal, or rectal agents.

Responsibilities
  • Administer anesthesia under medical direction for diversified surgical cases.
  • Participate in pre-anesthetic preparation and evaluation of patients.
  • Formulate a patient-specific plan for anesthesia care in collaboration with attending anesthesiologists.
  • Implement, monitor, and adjust patients' physiologic condition as appropriate for type of anesthesia and specific patients' needs.
  • Recognize abnormal patient response to anesthesia and adjunct medications; take appropriate action.
  • Provide observation, monitoring, and resuscitation of patients in route to recovery room or to special care unit according to protocol.
  • Transfer the responsibility for care of the patient to other qualified providers post-operatively to assure continuity of care and patient safety.
  • Support operating room procedures.
  • Keep patients informed of their medical condition and the course of treatment being prescribed.
  • Function independently in executing the day-to-day operational and administrative management duties/responsibilities in the absence of the Chief CRNA.
Requirements
  • Valid Florida licensed RN/CRNA or eligibility for licensure as CRNA/Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner.
  • National Board Certification by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are required.
Working Conditions

The job function requires extended standing or walking. Must be able to carry objects weighing 21 to 50 pounds. Able to lift or move objects weighing 51 to 100 pounds with the use of appropriate devices. Jobs in this group require frequent visual acuity to perform activities related to extended use of computers.

Environmental Conditions

Jobs in this group are required to function in a fast-paced environment with occasional high pressure or emergent and stressful situations. Frequent interaction with a diverse population including team members, providers, patients, insurance companies, and other members of the public. Function is subject to inside environmental conditions, with occasional outdoor exposures.
