HOW YOUR ROLE AS A SYSTEMS ENGINEER WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • We are looking for a proactive Systems Engineer to assist an Agile software development team in the creation, maintenance, and support of enterprise-level cloud and web applications. Key responsibilities will encompass project management support, software development, and system integration.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Education:

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training, or work experience.

6 years of relevant experience

Responsibilities / Tasks:

- Act as the Technical Liaison between Clients and the Development Team.
- Provide support for System Requirements, including engaging with business stakeholders, conducting Business Process Analysis, and translating requirements (e.g., creating mockups for GUI modifications).
- Develop requirements in Confluence and user stories in Jira.
- Break down large processes or requirements into smaller, manageable components.
- Offer engineering support to the development team, including clarifying requirements, documenting system architecture, and creating workflow diagrams.

- Assist the Division Staff with system roadmaps, issue investigation, and responding to inquiries and technical tasks.

- Help respond to System Incidents and Alerts from monitoring tools.
- Provide testing support, including requirements verification and user acceptance testing.
- Support escalated help tickets (tier 2), including triage, coordination, and resolution.
- Serve as a backup Scrum Master.
- Assist with system certification requirements (e.g., Auditable Financial System certification, Security's ICD 503 certification), including documentation and annual contingency/disaster recovery actions.
- Monitor the performance of Production applications using integrated monitoring tools.
- Prepare materials for presentations (e.g., PowerPoint).
- Manage Configuration Management / Version Control of documentation (e.g., SharePoint).
- Contribute written input for PMO Briefings (accomplishments, plans, issues, risks).
- Conduct project briefings and technical demonstrations.
- Oversee management and coordination for new IT initiatives.

Required Skills:

- Experience in systems engineering supporting web application development.
- Proficient in requirement definition and tracking.
- Skilled in creating and maintaining technical documentation.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
- Familiarity with Firefox, Chrome, and/or Edge on a Windows platform.
- Proficient in MS Office software products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

Security Clearance Level:

Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph

Preferred Skills:

- Experience with Jira and Confluence.
- Background in supporting an Agile/Scrum software development team.
- Scrum Master experience.
- Familiarity with Visio or similar software for system workflow, interface, and architecture diagrams.
- Experience with system monitoring tools.
- Software testing experience.
- Knowledge of AWS cloud services.

The likely salary range for this position is $114,750 - $155,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary.

Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
