Qualifications:

REPORTS TO:
Building Principal/Special Education Director.
OBJECTIVE:
To assist students in acquiring knowledge and life skills that foster their growth into mature, capable, and responsible individuals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in the IEP process by attending meetings, collaborating with the IEP team, preparing necessary documentation, and delivering instruction to support student progress towards IEP goals.
- Conduct classes in designated locations and times.
- Develop a tailored program that addresses the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
- Foster a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to the maturity and interests of students in their least restrictive setting.
- Prepare for assigned students and provide written evidence of preparation when requested by supervisors.
- Encourage students to establish and uphold standards of behavior in the classroom.
- Guide the learning process towards achieving curriculum objectives, establishing clear goals for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicating these objectives to students.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, technology, and media that align with the physical limitations of the environment and the needs of students.
- Strive to implement the district's educational philosophy and instructional goals.
- Regularly assess student progress and provide required progress reports.
- Identify the instructional needs of students and seek assistance from district specialists as necessary.
- Ensure the safety of students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintain accurate and complete records as mandated by law and district policy.
- Assist administration in enforcing policies governing student conduct and develop reasonable classroom behavior rules.
- Be available to students and parents for educational purposes outside of instructional hours when necessary.
- Plan and oversee meaningful assignments for educational assistants and volunteers.
- Commit to ongoing professional development.
- Attend staff meetings and participate in committees as needed.
- Support parents by providing resources to enhance their child's education.
- Monitor student behavior closely and report progress to parents as needed.
- Collaborate with external therapists and agencies involved in the student's education.
- Fulfill all assigned duties (morning, lunch, bus) and responsibilities of an elementary teacher.
- As a special education case manager, ensure regular education teachers receive necessary modifications for students on the caseload and monitor implementation.
- Collect and submit progress reports to the Special Education Coordinator and provide copies to parents as required by law.
Physical Requirements:

While executing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands for handling or feeling, and communicate verbally.
The employee must also stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
The employee may need to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

EMPLOYMENT TERMS:
193 days. Salary and benefits are aligned with contractual agreements.
PERFORMANCE EVALUATION:
Job performance will be assessed according to administrative procedures and established contractual protocols.
