Position Title: Skating Instructor

Department: Skating

Supervisor: Candy Goodson

Work Location: Oakland Ice Center

Employment Status: Part-time, Non-exempt

Compensation: $22.50 per hour

Position Summary:

The Skating Instructor is responsible for imparting skating techniques and ensuring a positive experience for all participants at the Oakland Ice Center. This role requires a commitment to fostering a supportive and engaging environment for skaters of all ages.

Shift Requirements:

  • Must be available to work approximately two-thirds of scheduled events each month, including weekends and certain holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate attendance records for classes.
  • Be knowledgeable about the maneuvers included in the skating curriculum.
  • Determine which skills to teach and review during sessions.
  • Ensure that classes are enjoyable, welcoming, and well-structured.
  • Meet the expectations of participants and their families.
  • Encourage the development of social skills among students.
  • Prepare progress reports and achievement certificates.
  • Stay informed about current skating regulations and trends.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to wear the designated uniform during shifts.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends.
  • Proven experience in ice skating or coaching.
  • Ability to interact effectively with both youth and adults.
  • Familiarity with skating programs and organizations.
  • Capability to remain on skates for extended periods.
