Catholic Health Service is seeking a highly skilled Internal Medicine Advanced Practice Provider to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide comprehensive medical care to patients under the supervision of a licensed physician.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in internal medicine and be able to conduct thorough medical histories and physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and make accurate diagnoses and develop treatment plans in collaboration with the supervising physician.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Conducting thorough medical histories and physical examinations of patients
  • Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, such as blood work, imaging, and electrocardiograms
  • Making accurate diagnoses and developing treatment plans in collaboration with the supervising physician
  • Prescribing medications and therapies, including adjustments to existing medications
  • Providing preventive care, health promotion, and disease management education to patients
  • Monitoring and managing chronic medical conditions, such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease
  • Collaborating with other healthcare professionals, including specialists, nurses, and allied health staff, to ensure coordinated patient care
  • Consulting with supervising physicians on complex cases or when necessary
  • Communicating effectively with patients and their families, explaining diagnoses, treatment plans, and expected outcomes
  • Addressing patient concerns, answering questions, and providing emotional support
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records, documenting patient encounters, assessments, and treatment plans
  • Staying current with the latest medical advancements, research, and guidelines relevant to internal medicine
  • Attending conferences, workshops, and seminars to further professional development
  • Participating in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety
  • Ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as practice-specific policies and protocols
  • Advocating for patients' rights and well-being, ensuring they receive appropriate care and resources
  • Working collaboratively within the healthcare team, providing guidance and mentorship to colleagues when needed
  • Being prepared to respond to medical emergencies and provide initial assessment and stabilization until a physician arrives, if necessary
  • Demonstrating cultural competence and sensitivity when providing care to diverse patient populations

Requirements include:

  • PA - Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program, minimum Bachelor's degree required
  • NP - Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, current RN license and current AANP or ANCC certification

Certification:

  • Physician Assistant Certified (PA-C) or Nurse Practitioner certification (AANP or ANCC certification)
  • BLS/ACLS/AED training required and accepted from only 2 organizations: American Heart Association - BLS/ACLS for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) Program
  • DEA registration required for those with discharge responsibilities
