About the Position:
- Provide direct care services, including counseling, training in daily living skills, and assistance with personal care, medical, dietary, social, and recreational needs.
- Ensure the health, safety, and wellness of the individuals we support.
- Support with intimate care functions and build positive relationships.
- Participate in the development of treatment plans and crisis intervention management.
- Complete mandatory trainings and apply skills to promote person-centered services.
- Meet and demonstrate OPWDD Core Competencies.
- Assist individuals in maximizing their strengths, interests, and abilities through teaching, self-advocacy, and emotional support.
- Facilitate community integration, recreational activities, and socialization.
- Complete documentation to ensure compliance and billing.
- Train and present to a team.
- Take on additional tasks outside of basic DSP work as needed.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Work or life experience in the I/DD field is a plus, but not mandatory.
- Valid NY State Driver's License may be required depending on the position.
- Tuberculosis test is mandatory for most positions.
