Job Overview

Position Summary:
Saalex Solutions, Inc. is in search of a dedicated Corporate Safety Officer tasked with the responsibility of developing, executing, and upholding health and safety (H&S) protocols, practices, and programs. This role includes the compilation and maintenance of essential records, logs, and reports related to safety and training, in accordance with company policies and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

This position will also involve collaboration in various Quality Assurance initiatives within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Stay informed on safety regulations and communicate updates to senior management, implementing necessary actions for compliance.
  • Ensure that all incidents and injuries are reported and managed in line with corporate and governmental requirements.
  • Oversee special safety projects to ensure compliance with safety regulations and identify areas for updating safety codes, developing and implementing safety policies as needed.
  • Lead the development and enhancement of organization-wide process improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities, defining improvements, and facilitating implementation while measuring outcomes.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Evaluate violations or issues identified during inspections and advise management on necessary changes for compliance.
  • Review and validate site-specific EHS plans and procedures, recommending amendments as necessary.
  • Investigate spills and accidents, preparing reports for relevant stakeholders.
  • Analyze personal incidents and accidents to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Manage compliance with all federal, corporate, and customer environmental protection programs, including OSHA-specific programs.
  • Recommend and assist in executing various workplace safety and training programs to prevent injuries and occupational illnesses.
  • Coordinate safety committee meetings, documenting minutes and tracking action items to completion.
  • Monitor hazardous materials usage and storage, researching environmentally friendly alternatives.
  • Administer the Environmental Protection Program and the Respiratory Protection Program.
  • Compile the site Hazardous Material Report and Safety Report as required.
  • Conduct research and analysis to identify training needs, recommending necessary revisions to training programs.
  • Organize and structure training content for maximum effectiveness.
  • Prepare training materials and assist in delivering training to employees.
  • Develop and implement employee training and orientation programs based on management input.
  • Collaborate with management and staff to create training programs that enhance effectiveness in various areas.
  • Participate in assessing training needs through consultation and evaluation.
  • Review and report on the effectiveness of existing and new training programs.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and training methods through research.
  • Coordinate training sessions conducted by others for department employees.
Qualifications:
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Skills Required:
  • Strong organizational and planning abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow directions and work independently.
  • Ability to interact with diverse personnel in a team-oriented environment.
Physical Requirements:
  • Capability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
