The City of Georgetown is seeking a highly skilled Firefighter/EMT to join their team.

Job Summary:

This is a full-time position that requires responding to fire alarms and other emergency calls as needed. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in firefighting and emergency medical services, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to emergency calls and perform firefighting and medical services as required.
  • Work closely with other team members to ensure effective response to emergencies.
  • Provide public education on fire safety and prevention.
  • Meet all physical and mental demands of the job, including lifting up to 80 pounds and working in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, supplemented by a minimum of two years' experience in firefighting or a related field.
  • Valid Firefighter I and Firefighter II certifications.
  • Valid South Carolina Driver's License.
  • EVDT, Pump Ops I, Pump Ops II, and Aerial Ops certifications.
  • Hazmat Technician, ICS 100/200/700/800 certifications.
  • Valid SC EMT Certification.

Physical Requirements:

The ideal candidate must be physically able to operate a variety of heavy machines and equipment, and must be able to exert up to five pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently.

Mental Demands:

The job requires frequent time pressures, frequent change of tasks, performing multiple tasks simultaneously, irregular schedule/overtime, and working closely with others as part of a team.
