Position Overview:
The Mathematics Educator for Academic Recovery will be instrumental in establishing and managing a specialized learning environment aimed at facilitating credit recovery and GED preparation for students. This role requires a strong dedication to student success, innovative programming, and collaboration with various stakeholders to eliminate obstacles to academic progress.

Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development & Instruction:

  • Create personalized learning plans for students, integrating specific interventions to address academic, behavioral, and attendance challenges.
  • Implement effective teaching strategies that empower students to reclaim their educational paths.
  • Serve as the primary instructor for credit recovery courses.
  • Provide individualized tutoring and small group instruction based on student needs, fostering a collaborative classroom environment.
  • Encourage a sense of community and belonging, highlighting the importance of collaboration, empathy, and shared responsibility.
Student Support and Advocacy:
  • Offer direct support to students, providing mentorship and resources to enhance academic success and personal development.
  • Advocate for students' needs within the educational framework, ensuring access to essential resources and promoting equity and inclusion.
  • Engage with students and their families to boost attendance and participation, building trust through authentic relationships.
  • Develop partnerships with local educational institutions and community organizations to strengthen program effectiveness.
Data Monitoring and Analysis:
  • Track student progress through continuous assessment and data collection, using insights to refine programming and interventions.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and academic performance to evaluate program outcomes.
  • Collaborate with project teams to gather data related to grant objectives and outcomes.
Professional Development:
  • Work with ZD staff to create professional development plans, fostering a culture of ongoing learning.
  • Stay informed about best practices and trends in credit recovery and education for at-risk youth.
Collaboration & Communication:
  • Utilize various communication platforms to engage with colleagues, students, and stakeholders effectively.
  • Participate in regular team meetings to ensure consistent practices and evaluate educational tools.
  • Engage in ZD meetings and professional development activities.
  • Build district and community partnerships through involvement in local events.
Qualifications:
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Colorado Teaching License in Mathematics.
  • Ability to support students with high school level coursework across various subjects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport and communicate effectively with diverse individuals.
  • Excellent organizational skills and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusivity, and social justice.
Preferred:
  • Proficiency in Spanish.
  • Experience working with at-risk youth in educational or community settings.
  • Familiarity with credit recovery programs and support services.
