Overview:
The Private Equity Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing investments managed by external partners on behalf of American International Group (AIG). This position is integral to the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) team, which is responsible for evaluating the performance of external managers, making tactical asset decisions, and setting strategic asset allocations.

Key Responsibilities:
The Private Equity Manager will support the AIG North America CIO in managing the Private Equity Portfolio. This includes:
1. Conducting thorough due diligence on managers.
2. Monitoring portfolio performance and managing associated risks.
3. Leading special projects as required.
4. Collaborating with third-party managers and General Partners (GPs) across various fund strategies, including leveraged buyouts, growth equity, venture capital, mezzanine financing, real assets, and distressed assets.

Investment Oversight:
The primary duties include:
(a) Overseeing all investment activities within designated asset classes.
(b) Advising the CIO team on allocation levels in response to market dynamics and risk appetite.
(c) Coordinating with external managers to ensure effective risk management and reporting.
(d) Collaborating with AIG CIOs and third-party investment managers to assess portfolio performance.

Manager Selection and Reporting:
The Private Equity Manager will also:
- Evaluate bespoke private equity transactions presented to AIG.
- Serve as the main point of contact for external managers, fostering strong relationships.
- Develop regular reporting processes and meeting schedules with external managers.
- Establish performance benchmarks as necessary.
- Prepare materials for AIG governing committees, including local and global Investment Committees.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Over 10 years of experience in investment management or insurance asset management, with a focus on Private Equity.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to introduce innovative ideas into the investment process.
- An MBA or CFA designation is preferred.
- Experience in overseeing third-party managers and vetting GPs.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
