**Job Summary:**

LifeSpan is seeking a highly skilled Physical Therapy Assistant to join our team. As a Physical Therapy Assistant, you will work under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist to provide treatment to patients of all ages. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in the practice of physical therapy, providing treatment to improve the functional status of patients.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Utilize proper body mechanics to ensure personal and patient safety.
  • Demonstrate the ability to safely lift, transfer, and mobilize patients and equipment.
  • Employ therapeutic modalities such as ultrasound, whirlpool, electrical stimulation, mechanical apparatus, massage, manual therapy, hot/cold application, and other modalities as needed.
  • Continuously monitor patients and adjust treatment plans to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Notify the physical therapist of any need for patient reassessment or reevaluation.
  • Provide education and training to patients, families, and caregivers on proper exercise techniques, equipment use, and assistive devices.
  • Document treatment statistics, billing slips, and other necessary forms.
  • Participate in departmental inservices, team meetings, and quality assurance activities.
  • Maintain and clean equipment and work environment, and order supplies and patient equipment as needed.

**Requirements:**

  • Associate Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
  • Licensed by the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations Department of Health Division of Professional Regulations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients with consideration of aging processes, human development stages, and cultural patterns.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

  • New Graduate considered; clinical experience in an acute care setting preferred.
