Overview

FST Technical Services' Commissioning Division is a leading provider of quality assurance services in building projects, focusing on ensuring mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and associated systems meet client requirements and design intent.

About the Role

A Senior Commissioning Project Engineer reports to a Team Leader and is an integral member of the team dedicated to delivering professional services for data center projects. This role is responsible for completing tasks related to equipment in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and associated systems.

Responsibilities

  • Completing office assignments, managing time and expenses, and conducting in-field installation validation.
  • Creating field observation reports, meeting notes, functional performance testing documents, and on-site witness testing records.
  • Writing reports, meeting notes, reviewing submittals, and evaluating design documentation.
  • Executing target billable hours, managing tasks within budgeted time frames, leading Cx meetings, and assisting the construction team with identifying/solving technical issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in HVACR, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management; or Associate's degree in Engineering Technology or a related field with relevant trade school, maintenance, or engineering controls experience.
  • Minimum 3+ years of commissioning experience or 7+ years in roles related to maintenance, construction, or engineering controls.
  • Preference for experience within the data center industry and 5+ years managing equipment interconnectivity, including pumps, fans, motors, air ventilation, chillers, boilers, steam distribution, building automation systems, fire alarm, and wastewater systems.
  • Proficiency in reviewing construction drawings, specifications, and bid processes with an aptitude for identifying project scope gaps.
  • Technical Proficiency: Ability to independently solve complex problems and work in a team environment.
  • Communication: Effective verbal and written skills, with public speaking and presentation capabilities.
  • Physical Fitness: Able to lift 30+ pounds, climb ladders, and work in varying indoor/outdoor conditions.
  • Technology: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Estimated Salary: $90,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience and location.
