Position Summary
The Utilities and Process Maintenance Manager oversees the daily operations of all power generation equipment, including steam boilers, ammonia refrigeration systems, compressed air systems, plant water systems, and CO2 systems. This role demands a high level of technical expertise in power generation, utilities management, ammonia refrigeration, and process maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement procedures for the effective maintenance of Brewing, Batching, Warehousing, Facilities, and Power Generation.
- Establish and monitor operational programs for Utilities, Water Treatment, Ammonia Systems, and Power Generation, ensuring timely communication of results.
- Enhance and maintain a preventive maintenance system (CMMS).
- Create mechanical specifications for the preparation of P&ID's and maintain a P&ID database, including numbering, tagging, and graphical symbols.
- Define mechanical design conditions for equipment and piping components, including safety relief valve design and control valve Cv calculations.
- Conduct initial material take-offs for piping and valves as necessary.
- Prepare comprehensive financial justifications for proposed equipment or process-related capital expenditures.
- Oversee projects and operations to ensure compliance with budgetary and timeline requirements.
- Develop and manage projects to ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations.
- Effectively troubleshoot deviations from specifications and communicate with relevant regulatory bodies.
- Ensure compliance with the Process Safety Management program.
- Manage the preparation, implementation, and monitoring of departmental Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with other Department Heads regarding Process Maintenance Department matters.
- Ensure departmental practices align with Occupational Health and Safety standards.
- Motivate and manage a workforce of hourly and salaried employees for efficient labor allocation.
- Facilitate staff training and development within a learning organization.
- Oversee subordinate development, including training and counseling, and participate in the hiring process for departmental positions.
- Interface with project-specific contractors as needed.
Additional Responsibilities
- Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating leadership and achieving results through others.
- Collaborate with other Managers/Supervisors, prioritizing the company's overall needs.
- Innovate and enhance manufacturing methods for product production, which may involve machinery selection, specification, or redesign.
- Perform other duties as required to support business objectives.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, with a focus on manufacturing.
- 3 to 5 years of managerial experience in Power Plant oversight, preferably in the Food or Beverage sector.
- Familiarity with Process Safety Management, particularly regarding Ammonia Systems.
- Ability to work independently and apply a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
- Demonstrated motivation and capability to work with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to express differing views from organizational leadership when necessary.
- Proven problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks amid changing business priorities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting.
- Self-motivated and self-directed with broad general knowledge.
