About the Role

Crescent City Schools is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated educator to lead a self-contained classroom as a lead teacher in our Aurora program. The Aurora program is designed to provide a supportive and intimate learning environment for K-8 students, focusing on the development of their academic, behavioral, emotional, and social skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Academic Leadership: Achieve significant improvement in the academic performance of students with exceptionalities through effective instruction and support.
  • Instructional Delivery: Provide instruction in small and large groups, adapting to the needs of diverse learners.
  • IEP Development: Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to promote students' academic, physical, and social development.
  • Behavioral Support: Develop Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) as needed to address students' behavioral and social needs.
  • Communication: Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress, ensuring transparency and collaboration.
  • Continuous Improvement: Implement feedback and goal-setting into lesson delivery, using data to track student achievement and inform instructional decisions.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with teammates in grade-level and subject-level teams to share best practices and support student success.
  • School Involvement: Participate in the life of the school, including student activities and events, to foster a sense of community and school spirit.
  • Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in special education and to enhance instructional skills.

Requirements
