Medical Assistant

A Medical Assistant plays a vital role in providing care to patients in an ambulatory clinic setting. This involves caring for patients with acute and chronic needs, prioritizing patient needs, and recognizing emergency situations.
As a Medical Assistant with Intermountain Healthcare, you will be responsible for performing basic clerical and office duties, including assembling necessary documents and supplies, scheduling appointments, and maintaining medical records.
You will also be responsible for performing business and financial duties, such as assigning procedural and diagnostic coding, conducting pre-authorizations, and facilitating timely billing.
In addition, you will be expected to perform clinical functions within acceptable standards of care, including preparing and maintaining examination and treatment areas, administering screening tests, and assisting providers with examinations and procedures.

Requirements:
- Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers
- Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Program
- Or 1 year of Medical Assistant Experience
- Or current RN/LPN license
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current national MA certification from one of the following national MA certifications or registrations: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) of AMT, National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) of the AAMA
Physical Requirements:
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients
- Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment
