The Material Baling Technician will be responsible for the safe operation and upkeep of machinery utilized in the baling process, while ensuring the cleanliness and organization of the work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Remove completed bales from the baler, weigh them, and accurately place them in the finished goods inventory area.
- Conduct maintenance and repairs on baling, shredding, and conveyor equipment as needed.
- Keep weekly maintenance logs for all machinery.
- Maintain a tidy and organized unfinished inventory area by properly stacking empty containers and clearing debris from the floor.
- Operate all machinery in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring that all safety equipment is functional and utilized correctly.
- Assist warehouse staff with projects as directed by management.
- Adhere to all applicable federal, state/provincial, and local laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) or a combination of education and experience.
- Must possess forklift operator training.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Effective communication skills with others.
Physical/Mental Demands:
- Ability to stand, sit, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, climb, and balance.
- Visual requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to regularly lift/move up to 40 pounds and frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to move items weighing up to 300 pounds.
Working Conditions:
- Noise levels typically range from moderate to loud.
- Occasional exposure to loud noise, humidity, adverse weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, vibrations, toxic and caustic chemicals, fumes, and airborne particles.
- Occasional work in high and precarious places.
