Job Description

Job Title: Excess Casualty Underwriter

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Excess Casualty Underwriter to join our team at IFG Companies. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, managing, and maintaining a profitable book of excess casualty business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate submissions for new and renewal business, prioritize them, and prepare quotes for those acceptable submissions falling within the underwriter's Letter of Authority and IFG Companies' underwriting guidelines.
  • Develop strong relationships with wholesale producers to result in favorable submission flows.
  • Employ IFG Companies' advanced underwriting tools to support the underwriting and quoting process.
  • Monitor and meet production, marketing, and profitability goals for the Excess Casualty Underwriter's book.
  • Stay informed of industry, competitor, and claim trends that may impact the relative and absolute attractiveness of risks being underwritten.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of commercial excess casualty underwriting experience.
  • Sound knowledge of commercial excess casualty underwriting coverages.
  • College degree preferred, with coursework in Risk Management/Insurance a plus.
  • CPCU or other relevant insurance-related designations a plus.
