Mary Washington Healthcare is currently seeking a dedicated Outpatient Ultrasound Technologist.

Position Overview:
This role is essential in preparing patients and executing standard ultrasound procedures in line with physician directives, the procedural manual, and examination protocols under the guidance of a Radiologist.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare patients for ultrasound assessments by confirming physician orders, verifying patient identities, and gathering comprehensive medical histories to ensure the appropriateness of examinations.
  • Conduct ultrasound examinations across all patient demographics and clinical conditions, maintaining clinical and technical proficiency through an annual competency evaluation.
  • Uphold departmental policies and standards to guarantee efficient operations and high-quality patient care.
  • Ensure a safe environment for patients and staff by adhering to infection control protocols and disinfecting equipment.
  • Interact effectively with students, providing guidance and support for educational programs.
  • Monitor and manage inventory of supplies to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.
  • Document patient information and procedural data accurately to facilitate timely billing and departmental operations.
  • Engage in performance improvement initiatives within the Ultrasound department.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited ultrasound program or relevant experience is required.
BLS certification is mandatory.
ARDMS (AB or OB/GYN or RVT) or ARRT (S) certification is required, with specific registration timelines outlined for new hires.
Preferred qualifications include registry in Abdomen (AB) and Pediatric Sonography (PS), as well as ARRT (R) registration in Radiologic Technology.
Experience with electronic medical records and radiology information systems is also preferred.
