Job Summary

The Structural Engineer III at Matrix PDM Engineering is responsible for developing structural steel and concrete design deliverables for a diverse range of projects in the industrial sector. This role requires a strong technical background and sound engineering judgment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with team members and interact with individuals at all organizational levels in a professional manner.
  • Perform concrete and structural steel designs and analyses per project requirements and applicable codes.
  • Prepare sketches and coordinate with Designers/Drafters in the development of 3D models and 2D design drawings.
  • Assist in preparation of technical reports and specifications.
  • Perform field activities, such as observing and documenting existing conditions and taking measurements in a variety of environments.
  • May function as Lead Engineer, supervising designers and other engineering staff members, interfacing directly with project personnel and clients, and monitoring budgets and schedules.
  • Perform other related duties, as directed.
  • Occasional overtime and travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Civil Engineering, specializing in Structures.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) registration preferred.
  • 5+ years engineering experience, preferably in structural steel and concrete design of industrial facilities such as gas plants, liquid terminals, LNG facilities, chemical plants, and bulk material handling facilities.
  • Knowledge of strength of materials, mechanics, and structural analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in the use of STAAD Pro or similar structural design and analysis software.
  • Knowledge of codes and standards relevant to structural steel and concrete design (AISC 360, ACI 318, ASCE 7, IBC, e.g.).
  • Proficient in Microsoft WORD and Excel.
