About the Role

At Blue Origin, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As a Structural Engineer III, you'll play a critical role in designing and developing the structural systems for our New Glenn launch vehicle, a single-configuration heavy-lift launch vehicle capable of carrying people and payloads to Earth's orbit and beyond.

Responsibilities
  • Develop accurate and detailed calculations, as well as analytical models, for structural systems composed of steel and concrete.
  • Design innovative plans and strategies for process improvement for the design of structures.
  • Prepare thorough reports documenting the design process, materials specifications, analysis results, and any other pertinent information.
  • Offer consistent technical support throughout the design and construction phases of projects.
  • Review calculations performed by others to ensure adherence to all design specifications, codes, and safety regulations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience in structural engineering.
  • Knowledge of AISC 360, ADM, ACI 318, ASCE 7, and AWS D1.1.
  • Familiarity with analysis software packages like STAAD or Ansys Mechanical.
  • Familiarity with FE good practices, nonlinear analysis, and the ability to generate hand calculations to validate computer output.
  • Demonstrated experience in field evaluations, structural analysis, and design of steel and concrete structures.
  • Strong understanding of current building codes and standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to produce detailed reports and communicate complex information effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, managing multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is highly desirable.
  • Advanced engineering degree.
