Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate LPN to join our team at Lutheran Social Service. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to our residents, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer nursing services in accordance with current applicable guidelines and regulations to ensure the highest degree of quality resident care.
  • Act as the resident advocate, assuming authority, responsibility, and accountability for the quantity and quality of resident care given on assigned shifts.
  • Oversight the day-to-day functions of nursing assistants, ensuring they follow established safety regulations and infection control techniques.
  • Monitor assigned staff to ensure they are following established safety regulations and infection control techniques in the use of equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure proper administration of all treatments and medications, and accountability of all medications, including narcotics.
  • Admit, transfer, and discharge residents as required, completing accident/incident reports as necessary.
  • Chart nurses' notes in an informative and descriptive manner, reflecting the care provided to the resident, as well as the resident's response to that care.
  • Order prescribed medications, supplies, and equipment as necessary, and in accordance with established policies.
  • Participate in employee performance evaluations, determine shift staffing requirements, and make recommendations to unit managers/supervisors concerning employee discipline, dismissals, transfers, etc.
  • Inspect the nursing service treatment areas, resident lounges, and rooms to ensure they are maintained in a clean and safe manner.
  • Report all allegations of abuse and begin immediate investigation.
Requirements
  • Licensure as a Practical Nurse (LPN) with current, active license in the State of Ohio.
  • Long-term care experience is preferred.
  • Able to effectively communicate and listen to families, residents, visitors, staff, and government agencies both orally and in writing.
  • Able to function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, families, and support agencies.
  • Possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures necessary for providing quality care.
  • Possess leadership ability and the skills to manage and supervise nonprofessional personnel.
