Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patients for urgent and emergent conditions, utilizing relevant data to evaluate for physiologic instability and formulate a plan of care.
  • Perform therapeutic interventions to stabilize acute and critical health problems, analyzing indications, contraindications, risk of complications, and cost-benefits.
  • Manage the plan of care through evaluation, modification, and documentation, optimizing patient outcomes and incorporating health promotion, health protection, and injury prevention measures.
  • Facilitate patient transitions between and within healthcare settings, serving as an educational resource to patients, families, nursing staff, and provider teams.
  • Participate in scholarly activities, including research and education, and engage in professional development to maintain required competencies and identify learning needs.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to patient safety by speaking up about safety issues and changing practice to enhance safety, sharing errors or potential errors through system reporting mechanisms.
Requirements
  • A master's degree in Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Studies.
  • Active, unencumbered, unrestricted Louisiana Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license or Physician Assistant license or temporary permit.
  • Active Drug Enforcement Agency registration and Louisiana Controlled Drug Substance license.
  • American Heart Association Certification in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
