We are currently accepting applications for the Part Time position of Per-Diem Crossing Guard Assistants with the Lexington Police Department. The hourly rate for this position is $30.13. Job Summary

The Lexington Police Department is seeking qualified individuals to work as Per-Diem Crossing Guard Assistants on an intermittent and temporary basis. As a Per-Diem Crossing Guard Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting with vehicles exiting or entering school property after proper training. You will work per-diem when an assigned crossing location is vacant due to resignation, illness, leave, or other circumstances.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Punctually report to assigned school crossings.
  2. Be attentive and cross children in a safe manner.
  3. Report any unsafe conditions that could endanger the safety of school children.
  4. Comply with regulations required by the Department.
  5. Do not enforce criminal or motor vehicle laws.

As a Per-Diem Crossing Guard Assistant, you must be able to stand outdoors for long periods of time in various weather conditions. Proper safety equipment, including a stop sign, safety vest, and white gloves, will be supplied. External and internal applicants, as well as position incumbents who become disabled, must be able to perform the essential job functions either unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation.
