The Town of Lexington Massachusetts is seeking a Crossing Guard to assist with pedestrian safety in school zones. As a Crossing Guard, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety of children crossing the street on their way to and from school.

Responsibilities
  • Assist pedestrians crossing the street and vehicles exiting or entering school property
  • Ensure the safety of children crossing the street
  • Act as a visible reminder to drivers to slow down and be cautious in school zones
  • Maintain a safe environment for pedestrians
  • Set a positive example of safe pedestrian behavior
Requirements
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time in various weather conditions
  • Punctuality is essential, as the safety of children depends on your timely presence
  • Commitment to safety
  • Genuine love for helping others
Work Schedule

Monday through Friday, with a maximum of 7.5 hours per week. Hours are based on the school academic calendar, with two 45-minute shifts in the morning and afternoon.

Benefits
  • Uniform provided, including a stop sign, safety vest, and white gloves
  • Five sick days at the start of each school year, with a maximum carryover of 25 days
  • Three personal days at the start of each school year, to be used by the end of the academic year

Please note that a Massachusetts Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) screening is required for this position.
