We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Education Mentor to join our team at Damar Services. Key Responsibilities- Client Support: Ensure clients are punctual to class, remain awake and engaged, and are never left unattended unless permitted by their Individual Education Plan.
- Crisis Management: Effectively respond to and manage crisis situations, utilizing verbal intervention or physical management techniques as prescribed.
- Program Participation: Participate in programs designed to aid in the habilitation, training, and treatment of clients.
- Individualized Support: Consistently implement Individual Education Plans and behavior management plans to reduce maladaptive behaviors, promote appropriate social behaviors, and maximize human potential.
- Be at least 18 years old to work in our Community Living and Support Services program and at least 21 years old to work in our Children's Residential program.
- Provide formal proof of a high school diploma or GED.
- Possess a valid Indiana driver's license and good driving record.
- Successfully complete a pre-employment physical.
- Favorably meet and maintain Damar's background screening.
- Be clear of any felony convictions, substantiated charges of neglect, or other disqualifying criminal offenses.
The primary functions of this role require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting, stand or sit for prolonged periods, and occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist. The ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 35lbs) is also required. Additionally, the role involves operating office equipment, traveling to other locations, and verbally communicating to exchange information.
