As a Site Reliability Engineer, you'll play a critical role in designing, developing, and testing key aspects of our in-house solution for analysis, simulation, and prototyping of software in support of all SpaceX flight systems.
Key Responsibilities- Automation and Deployment: Develop automation to deploy and manage applications both on-premises and in the cloud.
- Infrastructure Management: Deploy and manage core infrastructure technologies such as application servers, databases, messaging queues, and storage.
- Collaboration and Communication: Closely collaborate with software engineers to create highly scalable, operable, and maintainable products.
- Test Automation: Closely collaborate with IT and software engineers to develop test automation suites leveraging DevOps infrastructure.
- Service Lifecycle Management: Engage in and improve the whole lifecycle of services - from inception and design, through deployment, operation, and refinement.
- Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems/IT, or an engineering discipline; OR 2+ years of professional experience in software, DevOps, or site reliability engineering in lieu of a degree.
- Technical Skills: 1+ year of experience with Linux operating systems, experience with containerization technologies (i.e. Docker, Kubernetes), experience with designing and managing solutions in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, experience in Bash, Python, and/or other scripting languages.
- Clearance and Compliance: Active Secret, Top Secret, Top Secret SCI, OR ability and willingness to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
- Systems Administration: 1+ years of systems administration, site reliability engineering, or DevOps experience.
- Python Development: 1+ years of experience with Python and Python-based development frameworks.
- Cloud and Containerization: Strong understanding of Kubernetes, Docker, or similar technologies.
- Message Queue and Virtualization: Strong understanding of message queue technologies such as RabbitMQ or Kafka, and virtualization and hypervisor technologies.
- Database and Performance Tuning: Understanding of databases and performance tuning.
- Identity Management and Communication: Experience with identity management and authentication protocols, and excellent communications skills with the ability to communicate with customers, peers, management, etc. in both formal and informal situations.
- Flexibility and Adaptability: Willingness to work extended hours and weekends when needed.
