Snowmaker Level 3

A Snowmaker Level 3 is responsible for operating the Snowmaking system to prepare the ski area snow for skiing and snowboarding.

• Provide exceptional customer service to customers, employees, and business partners.
• Lead snowmaking efforts, including operation of the pump house and snowmaking guns, and other equipment.
• Develop expertise in the snowmaking system and learn how to properly use snowguns.
• Document and report the condition of snowmaking vehicles to vehicle maintenance.
• Monitor weather and ski conditions to assist in preparing the daily ski report.
• Assist with snow removal, including shoveling and clearing snow from walkways, paths, and other areas as necessary.
• Communicate schedule, machine status, or other information with the rest of the staff.
• Diagnose problems with snowmaking equipment.
• Work at night in all weather conditions.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• High school diploma.
• Three years of related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience in snowmaking.
• Grooming experience preferred but not required.
• Valid Class C Driver License with a driving record meeting the minimum standards required by the Association insurance carrier.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
