Role Summary

As a Lead Systems Architect within the Value Added Services – Digital Marketing & Engagement division, you will provide technical guidance and oversight to software architects and engineers while collaborating with product partners on extensive and intricate projects in the realms of Customer Engagement, Loyalty, and Marketing. You will comprehend the business imperatives linked to these strategic initiatives. Your role will involve offering technological leadership and serving as the technical authority on pivotal projects, steering the release strategy, and guiding the execution of strategic initiatives that align with business objectives focused on innovative payment acceptance and integrated commerce management, emphasizing simplicity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership: Spearhead the architecture for significant cross-team and cross-product development initiatives through architecture/design documentation and by developing key code modules.
  • Best Practices: Establish software development patterns and best practices through exemplary work and delivering code.
  • Strategic Coordination: Drive the organization and execution of qualitative and quantitative decisions, advising senior management on insights and recommended actions.
  • Influence and Collaboration: Possess a strong ability to influence, motivate, and collaborate with a diverse range of partners and stakeholders.
  • Standards Compliance: Ensure all relevant project teams adhere to a unified set of principles and utilize standardized technology frameworks and libraries.
  • Architectural Alignment: Provide leadership across the architecture community to ensure solutions align with platform principles and standards.
  • Team Development: Mentor and cultivate high-performing engineering teams.
  • Execution Velocity: Apply architectural best practices to enhance execution speed.
  • Security and Scalability: Develop architectures that are secure, robust, scalable, modular, API-centric, and globally applicable.

Work Environment:
This is a hybrid role, allowing employees to alternate between remote and office work. Employees in hybrid positions are expected to work from the office 2-3 designated days a week, based on leadership/site requirements, with a general expectation of being in the office 50% or more of the time depending on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's Degree, or at least 9 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g., Masters, MBA, JD, MD), or 6 years of experience with a PhD, OR 15+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g., Masters, MBA, JD, or MD), or a PhD with 9+ years of experience.
  • Extensive experience in deploying and managing software in public Cloud technologies.
  • Ability to mentor and motivate a high-performing team of senior technology engineers and architects to achieve critical business objectives and KPIs.
  • Proven expertise in the design, architecture, and development of complex systems.
  • Deep understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of various integration patterns.
  • Experience with continuous delivery and DevOps practices, including infrastructure automation, monitoring, logging, auditing, and security implementation.
  • Proficiency in Java, Spring, Hibernate, Angular, JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, and HTML5/CSS3.
  • Experience in code development using major Java IDEs such as Eclipse/MyEclipse or JetBrains IntelliJ.
  • Experience in API Development using SOAP or REST, JSON, and XML.
  • Familiarity with GIT/Stash, Maven, and Jenkins.
  • Experience with SQL and/or PL/SQL, as well as databases like SqlServer and Oracle.
  • Experience with SOAPUI.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for complex software development/design challenges.
  • Ability to write clean, coherent code adhering to established coding standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, and communication skills (both written and verbal), with the ability to present complex ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Experience working as part of an Agile/Scrum team is preferred.
  • Passionate about delivering high-quality and timely results.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Highly driven, resourceful, and results-oriented.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and navigate through uncertainty.
  • Previous experience in the Payments industry is preferred.

Additional Information:
Work Hours: Varies based on departmental needs.
Travel Requirements: This position may require travel 5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This role will be performed in an office environment, requiring the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and via telephone, and frequently operate standard office equipment such as telephones and computers.
