Job Responsibilities

As a Senior Linux Kernel Software Engineer at NIO, you will be responsible for:

  • Designing and customizing Linux operating systems that meet automotive safety and real-time level requirements.
  • Observing and optimizing system performance to ensure resource consumption, performance, real-time performance, stability and other requirements are met.
  • Harden the system to meet the Security and Functional Safety requirements of the business scenario.
  • Proof of Concept (POC) for new technologies or designs.
  • Delivering architecture design technical documents and building systems, and power builder chains.
  • Working with product development engineering teams to understand real-world constraints and assist in deploying new designs on mass production vehicles.
  • Working with hardware engineering teams to ensure software support that maximizes hardware capabilities.
  • Coaching and training engineering team partners.
Job Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technology.
  • 3+ years of Linux kernel, BSP, system software development experience.
  • 2+ years of performance tuning experience in complete mass production Linux projects.
  • Firm grasp of the knowledge of ARM architecture.
  • Experience using software architecture design tools.
  • Ability to read and write technical documents in English, and basic communication skills in English.
  • Able to have a certain influence on the engineering team in terms of technical concepts.
Preferred Requirements

It would be beneficial if you have:

  • Experience in the underlying software of car cockpit or autonomous driving systems.
  • Experience in developing virtualization solutions, such as KVM, XEN, etc.
Compensation and Benefits

NIO offers a competitive compensation package, including:

  • A US base salary range of $140,000.00 to $200,000.00.
  • Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
