Event Crew Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Event Crew Technician to join our team at Naropa University's Arapahoe Campus facility.

Job Summary

The Event Crew Technician will provide technical support for performances and other special events, including logistical and staff support for event set-up and breakdown, lighting, sound, audio/visual, house management, and box office sales.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with event set-up and breakdown, including stage set up, room set up, backstage, green room, program timing, stage equipment, and media projection.
  • Hang and set up lighting instruments, rigging, pipes, and cables, and circuit and test electrical equipment, including dimmer packs, lights, and other equipment.
  • Setup A/V equipment and assemble and disassemble scaffolding, climb and use scaffolding within safety guidelines, and use mast lift within safety guidelines.
  • Attend trainings, crew meetings, and interviews related to events and performances, and assist with transitions during shows, including microphone adjustments, setup changes, etc.
  • Manage the front of house at events, including setting up box office operations for shows, selling tickets for events, and reconciling all sales at the end of shows.
  • Provide customer service and assist with any questions from attendees, and provide support for hybrid classroom technology when needed.
  • Lead sound checks with performers and speakers, execute all sound cues per design requirements under supervision of Stage Manager, program, record, and execute light cues, and assist with light hang and focus, update lighting plot, set up cue sheets.
  • Perform light construction duties, occasionally with power tools, and be available to work as scheduled, and occasionally beyond, including some evenings and weekends.
Requirements
  • 6 months - 2 years' experience on a technical theatre crew.
  • Familiarity with computers, punctuality, dependability, ingenuity, teamwork, and honesty.
  • Ability to work as scheduled, and occasionally beyond, including some evenings and weekends, and a good attitude and a sense of humor.
  • Must wear appropriate clothing, including Naropa Crew T-Shirt, and be willing to co-create an inclusive community and actively participate in related professional development.
  • Ability to receive and respond to emails in a timely manner, and hold a commitment to co-create a diverse and inclusive community and actively participate in related JEDI professional development.
