Overview:


The Nuclear Medicine Technologist at Ellis Medicine operates under the general oversight of the Director of Radiology and collaborating Radiologists. This role involves the application of radionuclides and radiopharmaceuticals to conduct diagnostic evaluations, including imaging of various organs and systems, dynamic studies, and assays of bodily fluids and tissues.


Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and hold certification from either the ARRT or N.M.T.C.B. in Nuclear Medicine Technology. Previous experience in the field of Nuclear Medicine is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and calculates precise dosages of radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic procedures, ensuring adherence to protocols based on patient specifics such as age and weight.
  • Administers radiopharmaceutical doses to patients via intravenous, oral, or inhalation methods, in compliance with legal regulations.
  • Welcomes patients, elucidates the procedures to ensure understanding and comfort, and documents relevant observations that may impact test evaluations.
  • Operates imaging machinery and related devices for routine examinations, setting up equipment in accordance with established protocols. Conducts standard nuclear medicine imaging procedures, assisting patients in achieving necessary positions and adjusting equipment for optimal results.
  • Communicates test interpretations from physicians to designated personnel and schedules examinations as needed. Aids in maintaining an inventory of laboratory supplies and ensures examination rooms are adequately prepared.
  • Conducts quality control checks on all imaging instruments, documenting results to ensure operational integrity. Monitors and verifies the functionality of survey and monitoring devices.
  • Performs venipuncture when necessary, processes blood samples, and provides patients with clear instructions for specimen collection.
  • Inspects and verifies all radionuclide shipments for contamination, adhering to safety regulations during the handling and storage of radioactive materials.
  • Complies with the Exposure Control Manual policies regarding safety protocols, including the handling of bloodborne pathogens and medical waste disposal.
  • Utilizes appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during tasks that present potential exposure risks.
  • Demonstrates the necessary knowledge and skills to provide care that is appropriate to the physical and psychosocial needs of patients across various age groups.

Compensation:
The salary range for this position is $38.59-$57.89 per hour, commensurate with experience, skills, and educational background. Pay for exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will align with the stated hourly rates, which may vary based on location.
