Job Title: English and Special Education Teacher

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate English and Special Education Teacher to join our team at Northern Rivers Family of Services. As an English and Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic and behavioral growth of our students.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement individualized instructional plans for students, ensuring alignment with New York State curriculum standards and graduation requirements.
  • Provide specially designed instruction and monitor student progress toward academic and behavioral goals, completing progress reports and IEP updates as scheduled.
  • Coordinate the creation of special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on individual student needs, interests, and abilities.
  • Develop and implement single and classroom behavior plans to maintain discipline in the classroom, overseeing the collection of behavior data and assisting classroom staff with crisis prevention and intervention techniques.
Requirements:
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Special Education (Master's Degree preferred) or subject area, with the ability to work with students who demonstrate serious emotional and behavioral challenges, ages 6-21.
  • Requires a NYS certification in Special Education or appropriate subject area.
