About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated English and Special Education Teacher to join our team at Northern Rivers Family of Services. As an English and Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in developing and implementing classroom instructional plans for students, supporting student success in academic and behavioral goals, and working closely with the Assistant Principal to ensure the highest level of education for our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instructional Planning and Delivery: Develop and implement classroom instructional plans for students, aligning with New York State curriculum standards and graduation requirements.
  • Individualized Instruction: Provide individualized instruction in English to high school students, taking into account their unique needs, interests, and abilities.
  • IEP Development and Implementation: Develop and implement Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) for all students on your caseload, ensuring that accommodations and modifications are provided, and progress is monitored.
  • Behavioral Support: Develop and coordinate the implementation of single and classroom behavior plans for managing student behavior, maintaining discipline in the classroom, and teaching students appropriate behavior strategies.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with classroom staff, parents, and other stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive and supportive learning environment.
Requirements and Education
  • Education: Requires a Bachelor's degree in Special Education (Master's Degree preferred) or subject area, with the ability to work with students who demonstrate serious emotional and behavioral challenges, ages 6-21.
  • Certification: Requires a NYS certification in Special Education or appropriate subject area.
