Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement and maintain database server KPI monitoring and alerting systems
  • Chart database utilization over time to identify optimal scaling opportunities
  • Identify and resolve database bottlenecks
  • Suggest modifications and optimizations for SQL statements and stored procedures
  • Lead regular discussions regarding MySQL and PostgreSQL instances with the data services team
  • Perform post-incident customer impact analysis and monthly application availability metrics
  • Install and configure MySQL and PostgreSQL databases
  • Implement database maintenance routines
  • Participate in on-call rotations and troubleshoot database issues
  • Maintain backups and integrity checks
  • Participate in off-hours maintenance windows and multiple projects involving data services
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 5+ years of experience managing production systems, preferably 24/7
  • Experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Microsoft SQL Server
  • Proven history building automated solutions for resiliency and self-healing
  • Operational experience with data technologies and managing large volumes of data
  • Strong SQL skills for writing and reviewing scripts
  • Experience with backup schedules and securing data
  • Experience with automation scripts for database server builds using Terraform or Ansible
