Job SummaryUnder the direction of the registered nurse or other licensed independent practitioner, the Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) will provide holistic care to patients and families served in the Emergency Department.
The LVN will work collaboratively with the healthcare team to protect and promote health, prevent illness and injury, and alleviate suffering.
Responsibilities- Practice according to the LVN Board for the State of California and as delegated by the RN.
- Collect clinical data for the RN to monitor quality and effectiveness of nursing care.
- Identify aspects of care that are important for quality monitoring.
- Act as a patient/resident advocate under the direction of the RN.
- Collaborate and communicate with the patient/resident, family, and other healthcare providers.
- Make referrals, including provisions for continuity of care, as needed.
- Assist in development and implementation of policies, procedures, and practice guidelines to improve quality of care and nursing practice.
- Participate on interdisciplinary teams.
- Actions on behalf of patients/residents are determined in an ethical manner.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy within legal and regulatory parameters.
- Deliver care in a nonjudgmental and nondiscriminatory manner that preserves patient autonomy, dignity, and rights.
- CA Licensed Vocational Nurse
- Kaweah Health approved crisis intervention training within 60 days of hire/transfer
- Intravenous therapy certification and Blood withdrawal certification within six months of hire/transfer
- Hospital experience
