Our surgical unit is an integral part of the surgical, anesthesia, and PACU departments, providing comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services. As a Surgical Nurse Specialist, you will be responsible for making phone calls, checking results, and notifying physicians of abnormal results. You will also utilize the nursing process to identify patient needs, encompassing an entire surgical procedure from beginning to completion on a same-day basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Make phone calls to patients and families to provide updates and answer questions
  • Check laboratory and radiology results to identify abnormal findings
  • Notify physicians of abnormal results and provide recommendations for further action
  • Utilize the nursing process to identify patient needs and develop individualized care plans
  • Collaborate with the surgical, anesthesia, and PACU teams to ensure seamless patient care

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an approved nursing program
  • RN experience in Pre Admission Testing and Preop highly preferred
  • Current State of California Registered Nurse license required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association (AHA) required
