Position Summary:

The Café Beverage Specialist is an integral part of our team, responsible for crafting and serving a variety of beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialty drinks. This role involves taking customer orders, processing payments, and ensuring a clean and welcoming environment for guests.

Key responsibilities include guiding customers through our beverage menu, making personalized recommendations, promoting special items, and accurately taking orders.

To excel in this position, strong customer service skills and a good understanding of brewing equipment are essential. Flexibility to work various shifts is also required.

Compensation:
This role offers a competitive compensation package based on qualifications and experience, including both wages and tips. Your efforts will contribute to providing an exceptional beverage experience for our patrons.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Welcoming customers upon arrival
  • Presenting drink menus and addressing any inquiries regarding ingredients
  • Taking precise orders while considering customer preferences (e.g., coffee blend, dairy, and sugar levels)
  • Informing customers about daily specials and responding to ingredient-related questions
  • Preparing beverages according to established recipes
  • Serving drinks and light food items, such as pastries and snacks
  • Processing payments through cash and credit transactions
  • Maintaining cleanliness in the beverage preparation and serving areas
  • Ensuring adequate stock of clean serving items
  • Monitoring brewing equipment functionality and reporting maintenance needs
  • Adhering to health and safety standards
  • Communicating customer feedback to management and suggesting new menu options

Qualifications and Skills

  • Prior experience as a Barista or in a customer service role
  • Practical knowledge of brewing equipment
  • Understanding of sanitation standards
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts as required
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Ability to assess customer preferences effectively
  • Strong communication abilities
  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant training is advantageous
  • Background check and drug screening required

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED; or one to two years of related experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this role include standing, walking, using hands, reaching, and communicating effectively. The position may require occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
