Facilities Maintenance Lead

At Vanderlande Industries B.V., our Services division provides a comprehensive range of solutions, including operational and maintenance services, process enhancements, and system upgrades throughout the lifecycle of material handling systems in airports. The Facilities Maintenance Lead is tasked with overseeing the operational and technical staff while ensuring the effective operation and maintenance of the baggage handling systems. This role requires providing leadership, training, and guidance to the onsite team to meet safety, quality, and productivity standards while fulfilling customer service objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to safe working practices at all times.
  • Assess and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Conduct inspections and diagnostics of mechanical systems.
  • Execute scheduled preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Communicate effectively with various stakeholders regarding work performed and system status.
  • Interpret engineering schematics related to system layout and operation.
  • Respond to faults, alarms, and warnings promptly.
  • Utilize CMMS for reporting, including generating and closing work orders.
  • Address messages from the Control Room or management as needed.
  • Attend to messages from Operations Teams concerning preventive or corrective maintenance.
  • Perform monthly inspections and preventive maintenance tasks, including adjustments and part replacements.
  • Supervise team members assigned to maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure quality of maintenance performed on-site in accordance with contractual agreements.
  • Manage on-site system issues in collaboration with the maintenance team and management.
  • Establish and maintain work schedules to meet contractual obligations.
  • Assist management with daily operations and act in their absence when required.
  • Ensure adequate supply levels of spare parts, tools, and personal protective equipment while managing vendor relationships.
  • Initiate process improvements to enhance maintenance performance.
  • Monitor compliance with housekeeping standards across all operational areas.
  • Independently handle various technical tasks.
  • Identify and prioritize issues requiring immediate attention.
  • Resolve problems that disrupt daily operations.
  • Provide training to less experienced staff members.
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of technical experience in an industrial setting.
  • Experience with mechanical, electrical, and control systems (PLC, PC).
  • At least 2 years of experience in a lead technician role.
  • Valid Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least 2 years of experience in material handling.
  • 1 year of experience with CMMS is preferred.

Position Type:

This is a full-time position with a 24/7 operational schedule, including three shifts. Overtime, weekend, and holiday work may be required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position includes supervisory responsibilities for team members.

Work Environment:

The work environment involves secured baggage handling areas, repair stations, and airfields, often requiring adherence to strict deadlines to maintain operational schedules. Employees may be exposed to vehicular traffic, moving mechanical parts, and varying weather conditions.

Physical Demands:

This role is physically demanding, requiring frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting of items over 50 pounds. Employees may work in loud environments and must be comfortable using various tools and equipment.
