Nurse Professional Development Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Nurse Professional Development Practitioner to join our team at Christus Health. This is a full-time position that requires collaboration with Clinical Management and interdisciplinary staff members to assess educational needs, develop curricula, and deliver training programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in the assessment of educational needs of clinical and non-clinical staff
- Develop and implement curricula to enhance professional competence
- Deliver training programs to targeted groups, including instruction in theory and provision of clinical experience
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through analysis of class participation, feedback, and written tests
- Participate in workshops designed for career advancement of nursing staff
- Instruct staff of all levels in orientation and other programs
- Supervise learning experiences of staff in programs
- Act as a role model to nursing and healthcare staff by demonstrating and teaching professional behaviors
- Participate in and deliver approved continuing education programs to enhance professional competence
- Prepare and submit reports as required
- Maintain records of those persons participating in educational programs
- Protect human and civil rights of patients and/or clients and staff
- May participate on committees and in recruitment process
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
- Current New Mexico registered nurse license required
- ANCC certification in Nursing Continuing Education/Staff Development preferred
- BLS certification required
- BLS instructor certification highly recommended, and required within 6 months of hire
Work Environment:
This position requires working in a variety of settings, including inpatient and outpatient areas, and may require occasional travel to other facilities. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires intermittent physical effort, including walking, standing, sitting, and activities involved with patient care. The candidate should be able to push, pull, and lift equipment and supplies as needed.
