- Perform or oversee the performance of various duties, including:
- Troubleshooting operational and mechanical issues
- Performing preventive maintenance on assigned equipment
- Performing reactive maintenance as required
- Picking up equipment parts from vendors
- Installing, repairing, or replacing functional parts and components
- Routinely inspecting plant equipment and facilities
- Washing down and cleaning out basins as required
- Adding grease and oil to pumps
- Replacing air filters
- Operating a radio
- Completing work orders and basic forms
- Performing and maintaining housekeeping standards
- Understanding basic electrical safety
- Operating a forklift, weed-eater, and tractor/bush hog
- Repairing fences and wooden structures
- Ensuring that work teams observe all safety requirements
- Completing or assisting in documenting work orders, basic forms, and employee evaluations
- Interacting with customers
- Responsible for maintenance of buildings and grounds
- Responsible for fueling rental pumps
- Responsible for maintaining inventory of assigned tools and equipment, as well as proper operation, care, and security of assigned items for performing work assigned and reporting needed repairs and loss of equipment and tools
- Demonstrating knowledge and use of computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and related documentation procedures
- Initiating work orders
- Maintaining job safety standards (personal protection equipment, etc.)
- Complying with City of Shreveport vehicle safety rules
- Training new team members on safe work practices
- Regularly attending required safety, job-related, and certification training classes as required
- Subject to being on call 24/7
- Performing other duties as assigned or required
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid State Vehicle Operator's License with class applicable to assigned position
- Associates Degree or two-year vocational degree from an accredited college in mechanical, electrical, or welding, and two years of experience in operations and/or maintenance, or four (4) or more years experience as a Maintenance Specialist II or in industrial/environmental operations and/or maintenance, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Lucas Plant assignment - Hold or be able to obtain Class 3 Wastewater Treatment and Wastewater Collection Certificates issued by the State of Louisiana, Dept. of Health and Hospitals within 3 years
The position may require moderate to extensive stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions, along with some combination of climbing and balancing. The position requires abilities to consistently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, 50 pounds frequently, and 100 pounds occasionally.
Work EnvironmentThe work is performed outdoors and/or indoors with exposure to noise, dirt, grease, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, fumes, animals, insects, chemicals, treated/untreated sewer, treated/untreated water, inclement weather, machinery with moving parts requiring use of protective devices, and computer screens.
