Position Overview: Business Banker Team Lead

Note: This role may be located within our various operational hubs.

The Business Banker Team Lead is responsible for overseeing all functions associated with Business Banker roles, which include establishing new commercial relationships and enhancing services for existing clients. This position emphasizes strong leadership for Business Bankers and Small Business Specialists, focusing on the growth of commercial deposits, loans, and fee income while adhering to the bank's business development strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage business development initiatives, providing sales leadership and overseeing the commercial sales pipeline for new business opportunities.
  • Collaborate on executing sales strategies across all business lines, including joint client calls with Business Bankers and Small Business Specialists.
  • Maintain portfolio accuracy by staying informed on regulations, local products, and pricing that impact the bank.
  • Identify and cultivate commercial prospects within targeted markets, managing an effective prospect list to drive loan portfolio growth.
  • Engage with prospects and clients in a consultative selling approach, assisting them in recognizing business opportunities and risks while achieving their objectives.
  • Prepare for and participate in sales development meetings, conducting client meetings using sales and credit tools.
  • Conclude the sales process by assessing financial statements and related data to determine creditworthiness and negotiate credit terms.
  • Review and guide new credit requests, ensuring thorough discussions occur to pursue viable opportunities.
  • Participate in credit underwriting and documentation, ensuring all relevant information is accurately recorded and assisting in the underwriting process.
  • Ensure all client documentation is accurate and properly executed before releasing funds.
  • Monitor credit quality within the portfolio, minimizing risk and reviewing customer performance regularly.
  • Ensure timely completion of Lender Annual Reviews and collateral monitoring.
  • Actively pursue collections on delinquent accounts.
  • Follow up on any outstanding documentation requirements.
  • Conduct business in compliance with bank policies and all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Engage in community activities that promote the bank and support business development.
  • Complete required training and maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations.

Management Responsibilities:

  • Support department staff in their professional development and career advancement.
  • Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition team to recruit qualified candidates for open positions.
  • Provide ongoing feedback regarding performance, expectations, and potential promotions.
  • Address performance issues promptly and effectively.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews within established timelines.
  • Work with leadership to enhance team capabilities in credit management and business growth.
  • Ensure that Business Bankers and Small Business Specialists effectively monitor their portfolios and communicate any changes in credit risk.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in Business and Commercial Banking, with a focus on consultative selling.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience required.
  • 3+ years of experience in Commercial Credit required.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive sales growth.
  • Experience managing a portfolio of business clients required.
  • Strong knowledge of CRM applications, preferably Salesforce.
  • Ability to lead by example and communicate a clear vision while maintaining focus on the company's mission.

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40

Time Type: Full time

Compensation: The targeted salary for this role is $116,000 - $152,040.00. Additional incentive compensation and benefits may be offered, including Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), Health Savings Account, and Paid Time Off. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, education, and skills of the selected candidate.
