About the Job

This is a unique opportunity to work as a Mammography Tech at the Palo Alto VAMC. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for providing diagnostic imaging radiologic services in Radiography, in a competent and professional manner assigned by the Supervisor of Medical Imaging Services.

Responsibilities

• Provide diagnostic imaging procedures, such as CT and Radiologic examinations.
• Responsible for accurately positioning patients and ensuring that a quality diagnostic image is produced.
• Work closely with radiologists, the physicians who interpret medical images to either diagnose or rule out disease or injury.
• Provides information to diagnose patient illnesses by operating radiologic equipment to produce radiographs.
• Identifies patient service requirements by establishing a personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.

Requirements

• Must have a Certificate of Completion of Technologist training program accredited by an institution recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), and the JCERT.
• Shall be comfortable performing 2D/3D Mammography and complex procedures to include stereotactic and ultrasound-guided biopsies as well as scheduling and reporting on MRS (Mammography Reporting System).
• Must have a minimum of five years relevant clinical experience and a minimum of one year of general radiology in Mammography in a level 1 hospital setting and proven clinical work experience within the past 12 months.
• Must have a current certification or registry in their mammography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) (M).
