JOB SUMMARY:

The Landscape Operations Specialist collaborates with the central facilities team, property managers, and on-site landscape staff to enhance the visual appeal and upkeep of all properties managed by Far West Management Corp. This role is pivotal in maintaining the aesthetic quality of the landscape and grounds.

The specialist is responsible for conducting thorough inspections of the grounds to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and aesthetic standards set by the company.

This position also includes the responsibilities of scheduling and training landscape staff across various properties.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
General:
  • Exemplify the core values of the organization, demonstrating integrity, diligence, and a commitment to excellence.
  • Implement initiatives focused on water conservation.
  • Identify and manage common garden pests, diseases, and weeds while promoting sustainable gardening practices.

Property Inspections:
  • Conduct regular inspections of all properties' landscapes to ensure adherence to company standards and report findings to the Vice President of Facilities.
  • Initiate and oversee the completion of work orders for any deficiencies identified during inspections.
  • Identify and address safety hazards affecting residents and staff.

Grounds Maintenance:
  • Ensure all maintenance work aligns with company standards.
  • Assist in evaluating potential new hires for landscape technician roles.
  • Determine suitable trees, plants, and shrubs for various landscape areas.
  • Design and implement a composting program for green waste.
  • Collaborate with external vendors to assess landscape lighting needs.
  • Provide training and support to both new and existing landscape technicians.
  • Ensure compliance with dress code and safety regulations.
  • Schedule and supervise necessary preventative maintenance to protect and preserve assets.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors as required.
  • Manage landscape budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Maintain organized inventory of landscape supplies and ensure storerooms are tidy.

Other:
  • Conduct regular safety training sessions.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in landscape operations or equivalent expertise.
  • Strong knowledge of horticulture.
  • Familiarity with plant taxonomy, California native species, and plant nutrition.
  • Understanding of irrigation techniques and the ability to implement water conservation strategies.
  • Proficient in MS Office and property management software.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to various properties.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is an advantage.
